Some of the BEST Christmas markets
The most wonderful time of the year is coming! Only few days before Christmas we are glad to present you some of the best Christmas markets in Europe! Hot wine, ginger bread and a lot of smiles are just some examples about what you can expect on a Christmas market.
1. Vilnius, Lithuania
Did you know that the Christmas tree in Vilnius is the 7th most beautiful one in the world for 2018?! Such a pride for Lithuania! In the heart of the Old town or to be more exactly on the Cathedral Square (mostly known as the meeting point), the whole Christmas market is located around the tree and from above it looks like a watch. A really fascinating view! We as ERASMUS students in Vilnius are very happy having the opportunity to be part of this magic.
2. Tallinn, Estonia
The Baltic pearl Tallinn has a cozy Christmas market in the middle of the Old town, right in front of the Town Hall. On the top of the Christmas tree there is a very special and important star. It has been set up in the Town Hall Square since 1441, which makes it the 1st European Christmas tree ever to be put on the display.
In Dresden there are a lot of Christmas markets! Each of them is different and has an individual spirit. The Striezelmarkt is the oldest Christmas market in Germany! The city and the market are famous with the Christstollen - if you plan to visit Dresden you definitely should taste it. And also do not forget to drink Glühwein (a hot wine), people say that the best hot wines are in Germany!

In Vienna you can find one of the European Christmas markets with the longest duration: starting from 15th of November and ending on 26th of December! It feels like a paradise for sweets lovers. There is a plenty of different candies, chocolates and backed stuff. But if you go to Vienna, make sure that you will have the opportunity to eat Vanillekipferl.
5. Berlin, Germany
Wintertraum am Alexa (situated on the famous Alexanderplatz, where the name comes from) is not a completely traditional Christmas market. A lot of attractions such as big Ferris wheel, roller coaster, spinning attractions and many others are waiting for you! Action for young and old and some adrenaline may be a good way to spend time with your friends or family.
Which is the best market in your opinion? Do you have a suggestion about other Christmas markets? Or maybe you can tell us more secrets about these ones? Feel free to share your experience in the comments!
6. Budapest, Hungary
